Conization allows an exhaustive analysis of the removed tissue to be performed and to determine the presence and the number of abnormal cells. Depending on the results, further interventions or careful monitoring could be required.<\/p><p><strong>Diagnosis: To get a tissue sample for a histological examination, especially if other diagnostic procedures such as PAP test or colposcopy have indicated the presence of abnormal cells.<\/strong><\/p><p>\u00a0<strong>Treatment<\/strong>: To remove abnormal, precancerous cells or cancer cells in the early stage, in order to prevent the cervical cancer from progressing.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-0925a7c elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"0925a7c\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">Types of conization:<\/h2>\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-ecda79f elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"ecda79f\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>There are various ways to perform conization:<\/p><ul><li>LEEP- Loop electrosurgical excision procedure- A thin wire loop heated by electricity is used to cut out a cone-shaped part of the cervix.<\/li><li>Cold knife conization \u2013 A scalpel is used to remove a cone-shaped part of the cervix. This type is usually performed in a hospital and under general anesthesia<\/li><li>Laser conization \u2013 A laser beam is used to retrieve a cone-shaped part of the cervix<\/li><\/ul><p><strong>Preparation:<\/strong>The patient is usually given instructions on the preparations needed prior to the procedure, which might involve fasting, avoiding certain medications etc.<\/p><p><strong>Anesthesia:<\/strong>\u00a0 Local anesthesia is usually used, but general anesthesia can be used as well, especially for cold knife conization.<\/p><p><strong>Execution:<\/strong> A cone-shaped tissue sample is cut out from the cervix tissue, making sure the edges are clear of abnormal cells.<\/p><p><strong>After the procedure:<\/strong> The patient may experience cramping, bleeding and discharge.
